Malaysia – July 2019

11 July 2019

I love boat trips, this one takes me to Bako National Park, Sarawak, Malaysia. The first trail is sweaty, but everything immediately becomes null and void: proboscis monkeys, wild pigs, fiddler crabs, mudskippers, a green viper!

In the evening I am overwhelmed by sensory impressions. The programme of the Rainforest Fringe Festival taking place is breathtaking, as is the singing of the indigenous people in the courtyard of the old courthouse. The visit to „Commons“ shows the combination of traditional dishes with the most stylish ambience of an Asian restaurant in perfection, like the Laksa Lemak I ordered. Kuching, the City of Colours, lives up to its name, as the light show on the Sarawak River is an experience which I have never seen before.
